چکیده

The recovery of municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) fly ash is currently considered to be the most viable solution for its management. However, in developing resource technologies, it crucial consider overall environmental impact. This study employed a life-cycle assessment (LCA) compare environmentally friendly red bricks partially utilizing MSWI as raw material with conventional bricks. results demonstrate that use phosphoric acid during process imposes significant burden, followed by electricity consumption. To address this issue, study, we simulated replacement monohydrate recovered from discarded fire extinguishers, resulting production second-generation analysis revealed exhibited mere 5.52% increase total impact compared traditional Moreover, stabilizing heavy metals using monohydrate, achieved an 8.75% reduction relative These findings highlight benefits reuse brick production, and incorporation other industrial or byproducts could further enhance efficacy. application LCA facilitated identification key areas improvement enabled precise evaluation associated reuse.

Phosphorus recovery from municipal solid waste incineration fly ash.

The potential of phosphorus (P) recycling from municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) residue is investigated. Vast and ever increasing amounts of incineration residues are produced worldwide; these are an environmental burden, but also a resource, as they are a major sink for the material flows of society. Due to strict environmental regulations, in combination with decreasing landfilling s...

Solidification and Biotoxicity Assessment of Thermally Treated Municipal Solid Waste Incineration (MSWI) Fly Ash

In the present work, thermal treatment was used to stabilize municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) fly ash, which was considered hazardous waste. Toxicity characteristic leaching procedure (TCLP) results indicated that, after the thermal process, the leaching concentrations of Pb, Cu, and Zn decreased from 8.08 to 0.16 mg/L, 0.12 to 0.017 mg/L and 0.39 to 0.1 mg/L, respectively, which well ...

Life Cycle Assessment of Municipal Solid Waste Management in Tehran

Due to increasing solid waste generation and their significant impacts on human health, environmental assessment of the management and disposal methods become more and more important. There are various disposal methods which are the combinations that originate from a wide range of solid waste management systems. In this study, municipal waste of Tehran (which totals to 7507.5 tons/day) is asses...

Speciation of copper in the incineration fly ash of a municipal solid waste.

The speciation of copper and zinc in the incineration fly ash of a municipal solid waste in Taiwan was investigated in the present work. By the least-squares fitted X-ray absorption near edge structural (XANES) spectroscopy, we found that CuCO3, CuOH2, and CuO (fractions of 0.09, 0.39 and 0.51, respectively) were the main copper species in the fly ash. Quantitative analysis of the extended X-ra...

Distribution of Chloride in Municipal Solid Waste Incineration Bottom Ash

Chloride content is a critical problem for the reuse of incineration bottom ash as raw material in cement. The effect of dechlorination procedure largely depends on the existence form of the chlorides. However, limited information about the distribution and identity of chlorides in bottom ash can be obtained by bulk analysis methods. In this paper, the investigation towards a more comprehensive...
